The Boulder Library Underbelly Skate Features are a compact street-style skate spot tucked beneath the Boulder Public Library along Boulder Creek in downtown Boulder. Installed in 2022, the skate area was designed to activate the space while providing an accessible place for local skaters to ride.
The setup includes a skate bank, manual box, triangle-shaped ledges, and rails. It's a small, straightforward layout that is best suited for practicing street tricks, grinds, manuals, and short lines rather than long runs or transition skating.
What makes the Underbelly unique is its location. The covered area beneath the library provides shade and shelter while putting you right alongside Boulder Creek and the Civic Area. It has a relaxed, urban feel and is a convenient spot for a quick session, especially for local skaters and beginners working on fundamentals.
This isn't a destination-sized skatepark, but its downtown location and distinctive setting make it a worthwhile stop when skating around Boulder. The city has also invested in cleaning, maintenance, and community events at the spot, including skate lessons and trick contests.
