Fairmont Skatepark is a free outdoor concrete skatepark located inside Fairmont Park in Salt Lake City's Sugar House neighborhood. Opened in 2004, the park covers roughly 15,600 square feet and combines a street plaza with substantial bowl and transition terrain, making it one of Salt Lake City's long-standing local skate spots.
The street section features ledges, hubbas, banks, a euro gap, stairset, flat bars, and a round rail, providing plenty of options for grinds, manuals, technical tricks, and street-style lines. The transition side includes a large open-flow bowl and a kidney-shaped pool bowl, with varying depths and concrete coping for riders who prefer carving, wall rides, airs, and bowl skating.
Fairmont is generally better suited to intermediate and advanced skaters, particularly when it comes to the deeper transition terrain. Beginners can still find approachable features in the street section, but the bowls and some of the transitions can be challenging. Local skaters particularly appreciate the variety of terrain and the park's lighting, which allows for evening sessions.
Because the skatepark sits within the larger Fairmont Park, skaters have access to restrooms, drinking fountains, picnic areas, parking, and other recreational amenities. The city currently lists the skatepark as one of the park's amenities.
Fairmont Skatepark is a solid choice for a full session, especially for skaters who enjoy having both street and transition terrain in the same park. Its combination of challenging bowls, varied street features, and evening lighting gives it plenty of character and makes it a worthwhile stop when skating around Salt Lake City.
